My name is Eileen, and I am a born hoarder.

Now that I am on a break, I have been clearing stuff in the house. I threw away so many pairs of shoes, it seems sinful. But I also found many things that have been with me for the longest time.

Cross stitch from 11 years old. I was so slow at it that I passed it to my cousin to complete it for me. |

My stamp collection! haha in those days, people collected stamps and stickers. An early sign that I am a hoarder. |
![]() |
Very first pair of glasses, from 12 years ago. No idea why I didn't throw it away. |
![]() |
An entire folder of diskettes!! DISKETTES. With memory space of 1.44 MB. How did people do any real work 10 years ago. Probably can't even save more than 2 essays in these things. |

I remember going to the Singapore River to watch the duck race with my dad and brother. Every year I held the hope that my duck will win so I can become a millionaire. |

Tamagotchi and Digimon. Hello, coolest pets of the universe. haha |

My hot dog backpack from kindergarten! I had a hamburger sling bag as well, but I am not sure where that is now. |

Wild Life Bead Set. With an elephant, no doubt. |
So I took out all these things, looked at them, and put them all back again. Yes, including the useless ones. I believe they will be staying with me for the rest of my life.
0134hrs..
It's been a week of going for training. Yet it feels like I have been doing it for so long. The only thing tiring about it all is the daily commuting to and fro work. I have to wake up so early to get ready and after an hour of traveling I am still not at work. Sleep is really a luxury these days. But at least this is not going to last forever.
Today I had to pull myself out of bed to collect my passport from ICA. As usual, I was late. I've been having to cab to work this entire week and the cab fare with peak hour charge is so not funny.
Anyway point of recording today was that I met this very feisty old man when I was shopping in town just now. Paragon was having a singing performance at their atrium, with a cello, a grand piano and a female singer who looked rather familiar. It was those hotel lounge kinda songs. I was watching the pianist actually, from the second level.
So there came along this old man, with his two walking sticks. He shuffled up right to the front of the stage and started moving to the tune. He even raised his two walking sticks in the air like how people would raise theirs arms when clubbing. It really was quite amusing.
After a while he walked towards the back side of the stage and was trying to get the attention of the musicians inside the barricade by putting one of his walking sticks inside. This went on for the next song. All the time still moving to the music. When the song ended, the singer relented and finally said to the audience, " This cute old man has been very entertaining and he would like to sing a song. So he will be singing a line for the next song." She passed the microphone to him and he said to everyone, " Ladies and gentlemen, I was just walking pass while exercising, you can see my two walking sticks here. In the past, I won 4 Talentimes. I would like to sing a song for everyone, if you think uncle is good, do support me."
The pianist and the cellist started the tune and he sang. He really is good. Everyone clapped for him after he finished his first line. He ended up singing half the song until he decided he had enough fun. He totally lifted the mood of the entire place, everyone who saw were smiling. It is pretty amazing a man at his age is still so positive and high spirited.
After his one minute of fame, with his walking sticks, he walked away from the stage like a super star, smiling and waving to the audience.

My Canon camera is officially gone. The service center called and said that the motherboard is not functioning anymore. =( It was my first camera, it is pink, and has cool functions, like colour accent.

But anyway, with the Canon gone, it opened a whole world of better cameras! I am secretly quite in awe of Kit's Sony camera. Here's a picture of Co taken by the Sony.
Codee, today. |
There's a difference between memory card and memory stick. Only Sony uses the stick, the rest of the world uses the card.
Lameness of technology. Best to stick to a film camera, like the Vivitar.
But anyway, I have a new camera now. =) Hopefully it is the awesomness of every camera out there.

World Food Programme: Feed the children
0 utterances As illustrated by eiL . on Monday, November 16, 20090348hrs..
I think its all because of soci of food. Last week I read the readings on world hunger, and the main problem is inequality in distribution, be it income, food, opportunity. It is inequality that causes hunger, not overpopulation or famine or natural disasters. And it is everywhere.
I can't imagine how bad it must be. I mean like chronic hunger. I miss a meal and I feel like dying, and these kids go on for days without food.
So I thought maybe there's something I can do to solve this hunger problem. But it is hard. It's such a big scale global thing, and inequality can't be resolved simply by rearranging the distribution. Quite disheartening though. For once I feel so strongly about a social issue and there is practically nothing I can do to really help.
So I googled. haha Google is my best friend. And UN has this ongoing fund raising campaign for world hunger. Just USD 1 can feed FOUR kids. USD14 can buy a sack of rice. I feel quite bad knowing that the dinner I had today can prob buy like 2 sacks of rice. I guess that's qhat inequality is all about. But until I am more powerful to solve this hunger problem, all I can now is to donate to the UN WFP.
You can donate too! Click on the link on the side bar. You can choose which hunger problem you want to donate to. Imagine, that Starbucks can feed 16 kids.
Anyway, I am not posting this so I can like ad moneys or whatever. Just something I feel I should do my part for.

I died 30 times in the last 15 minutes.

I am playing Super Mario and Bomber Man again. I must say that my skills have improved over the last 10 years.
At least now I can reach level 3 of Mario before dying. When I was 12, I could never finish level 2. haha ya, at 21 I am still dying at level 3. I will complete this game. Somehow.
Some old school fun. I have never owned one till now though. Best thing ever.
Last night, after dying like a gazillion times, I finally figured out this level in bomber man, and was thisssss close, and my game boy ran out of batt. Awesomeee. haha but its still so fun!
Anyway, I tried making Checkerbox Cookies and they turned out all messy. Blame the weather. haha I think. No not really, I made it messy. Mine look more like a zebra when its bitten in half.
No prizes for guessing which is mine.

My two pairs of new shoes are arriving over the weekend! yay yay yay!
That Coldplay Album we were suppose to get but didn't.

I am like going on some baking spree.
So for today, its this..And an utterly unsuccessful attempt at Molasses Cookies, which I made into cakes instead, and taste horrible.
I thought I could put to good use the new super cute cookie cutter Kit got me from Germany. Its shaped like the red and green traffic light men, thats why its called Ampelmann. And thats a picture of the real traffic lights in Germany.
And all these other stuff.
Besides, how can you not smile when you see this. And and and, I can't stand Kit's new humongous TV and furniture. Its ridiculous, it couldn't even fit into my camera frame!
